The Art of Michael Dean

You may have wondered about one of the 'aRtifax' on the CD cover.

When I met Michael, he was already 80ish, but full of passion for his photographic art. He had retired after a full career as a cinematographer in Hollywood in the 50's/60's. But was in no way 'retired'! He was fully engaged in advancing his work!

The images below are only a few of the examples of the Photographic Art of Michael Dean. He took a simple, small, perfectly smooth chrome heart-shaped bud vase, enlarged it, distorted and colored it. The magic is that all the effects were done in camera as he shot! Not contorted afterward in Photoshop!

I was privileged to know him for a short time on this planet and will always be inspired by his creativity, energy and continued passion.
